I'm resurrecting this blog, but I've decided to revert all my old posts to draft form. If you were a reader way back in the day, awesome. That rocks. If you weren't, well. I'm sorry. I'm not going to share those posts at this time. If you want to get a taste of what the old posts were all about, check out The Neurotypical Mom Chronicles on Facebook.Shelli Stanleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02025189211860981351noreply@blogger.comBlogger23125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5971643973320520748.post-85321381349920462942015-11-09T11:38:00.001-05:002015-11-09T11:38:49.974-05:00Whole 30 UpdateSo it's been just under a month since I finished the Whole 30 experiment. I reintroduced all of the food groups and noticed that no particular food bothered me greatly. I did note that when I mix dairy and gluten together (pizza) I feel less than ideal, but it's not the worst feeling ever. I think most people might feel this way after too much pizza.
I have maintained my weight loss and I am Shelli Stanleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02025189211860981351noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5971643973320520748.post-63796423660877261492015-10-14T06:35:00.001-04:002015-10-14T06:35:47.638-04:00Whole 30...the results are in...And I am NOT the father!
I'm also 12.4 lbs lighter on earth and lost 7.5" from my bust/waist/hips area.
I'm pleased with these findings, though I personally think that much weight lost in one month is too much too fast. I'm hoping with the reintroduction of some foods that my weight loss will level off some. My pie in the sky goal is another 15 lbs or so.

Or maybe not. Anyway, I've been up to all kinds of good stuff. Like learning what marimbas are, what "gate time" means at a marching band competition, and that I should buy stock in clarinet reed manufacturing companies.
Today's the last day of this food experiment starring moi. And I'm really pleased with what I've learned.&Shelli Stanleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02025189211860981351noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5971643973320520748.post-64276100803725091222015-10-08T08:47:00.002-04:002015-10-08T08:47:56.259-04:00Whole 30 Day 25: Five, five, five for my lonely...Five days left! Really? Not sure why I made the Violent Femmes reference in the title. I'm not lonely.
Anyway, things are going swimmingly. I'm excited to have hummus next Wednesday. I wonder if I'll explode from the legumes. I sure hope not. Yesterday was tough school wise with the kids and I totally could've used a potent potable when I got home, but Shelli Stanleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02025189211860981351noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5971643973320520748.post-50222077587809061582015-10-05T12:09:00.000-04:002015-10-05T12:09:47.183-04:00Whole 30 Day 22: Is this really over next week?I never thought I could do this. I really, truly didn't. Well. I haven't finished yet, but I really feel like the odds of me messing up at this point are super small. I think the thing that surprised me most was how not hard it was to make these changes, so long as I planned my days in advance.
So that's my biggest take away so far. Plan. Plan. Plan.

Thanks nor'easter. It's perfect grilled cheese and tomato soup weather, though.
I made tomato soup in my crock pot for dinner. All that was missing was grilled cheese. Not even one ingredient of my perfect grilled cheese is allowed. Sigh.

Happy Hump Day!I'm pretty bad about blogging daily. It's why I stopped really blogging here and just updated my Facebook page. I didn't feel creative enough, or funny enough, or interesting enough to post something every day.
But today I feel inspired!
After my super sad salad at Chevy's Monday I've been jonesing for a burrito bowl type situation. It's all down hill from here. I read the reintroduction section of the book so I could plan for when and how I would reintroduce the food groups that I've eliminated these last fifteen days. In my "I just play a doctor on TV" opinion, I feel like they don't allow enough time between food group introductions. I can't believe it's been two weeks already! In general I'm feeling really good, I've only had to take my Meloxicam a few times in the last week.
Last night I made the most delicious dinner. Seriously. It was soooooo good. Oops. While my energy in general has been better, at night time I'm toast. Especially after dinner making and kid wrangling and what not.
I tried a new recipe for Meatza and while I wouldn't call it a fail, I wouldn't call it a win either. It was just too weird for me to wrap my brain around. I want chips. Thank the universe for that Pampered Chef voodoo chip maker. I had a potato's worth of chips this afternoon. Had to do it. It did the trick. This thing is getting me through PMS on the W30.
In other news, I woke up naturally at 5:30 again and had a great day. I'm starting to get sleepy now as I watch more Arrow.
I'll write a real post tomorrow when I'm not on my Shelli Stanleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02025189211860981351noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5971643973320520748.post-91823157120523775552015-09-22T18:36:00.000-04:002015-09-23T19:51:07.301-04:00Whole 30 Day Nine: Zoodles are not pasta, seltzer is not wine, and other truthsToday is my 14th wedding anniversary. Go me! Go us. We had a rough patch six years ago, but it's been mostly smooth sailing ever since. Normally on this day The Husband would bring home my favorite IPA or a nice bottle of wine. We'd get a little tipsy and then eat something super delicious that I didn't have to cook.
Things are a little different this year. Needed. HAD. TO. HAVE. Crunchy, salty, delicious chips. White potatoes are OK on this plan, but there are some caveats. Potatoes can be food "without brakes" and if you don't have a limit or a set controlled portion, it's lights out, you're eating way too much.

I learned that doing this Whole30 thing is far easier than I thought it would be once I put my mind to it. Daily posts certainly don't hurt either. Probably because The Husband had taken The Boy by McDonald's after the football game and the smell of fries and nuggets was so alluring I had to hide upstairs. Salty, potato-y goodness. Sigh. I survived Day Four of the Whole 30. And I didn't stab anyone. That's winning.
I didn't wake up hungry and I broke the "rule" of drinking coffee before eating anything, but I did manage to eat something after only an hour of being awake. That's huge for me! Crusty bread and cheese
Deliciousness that I want

Despite my intense desire to nosh on all the bread and all the cheese, I feel pretty good. I'm still all achy and I'm still taking my Meloxicam (rx NSAID), but I don't feel hungry. I woke up yesterday horrified because I had dreamed of eating all the food at the grocery store, chowing on Chick Fil A sandwiches, and eating an entire order of chicken lo mein from our favorite Chinese takeout place. None of these things happened, of course, but I've also never dreamed about food before. Weird.
